HABITARE 09/ AHEAD! -AREA, 4b, 9.9-13.9.2009
The Design Migration Association is a group of roughly 20 Finnish designers. SOMEDEMOS is a showcase of the latest designs by the group and is divided into two exhibitions taking place in Design Forum and in Habitare 09. In the exhibitions design is approached from two different perspectives forming one entity. The Habitare products represent a more commercial/industrial approach differing from the ones in Design Forum, which are more unique or artistic versions of the same idea. The exhibitions reveal two different extremities of a design process, quoting from the fashion world Prêt-à-porter versus Haute couture. The designers are seeking producers for their designs, which are mostly prototypes.
The participants are: Iiro A. Ahokas, Liina Blom, Camilla Groth, Susanna Hoikkala, Mari Iso-Pahkala, Camilla Kropp, Jenni Ojala, Viktoria Pettersson, Laura Pokela, Sami Ruotsalainen, Tanja Sipilä, Kirsti Taiviola, Tiina Tarvainen, Tommi Terästö and Enni Äijälä.

SOMEDEMOS esittelee uusimpia muotoiluideoita kahdessa näyttelyssä: Design Forumissa sekä Habitaressa. Näyttelyt muodostavat yhtenäisen kokonaisuuden lähestyen suunnittelua kahdesta eri näkökulmasta. Habitaressa esillä olevat tuoteideat on räätälöity kaupallisiksi/ teollisesti tuotettaviksi, kun taas Design Forumissa esitellyt tuotteet ovat uniikimpia tai taiteellisempia versioita samasta ideasta. Näyttelyissä rinnastuu suunnitteluprosessin kaksi eri ääripäätä, muotimaailman termejä lainaten Prêt-à-porter versus Haute couture. Habitaressa esillä olevat esineet ovat pääosin prototyyppejä, joille etsitään sopivia tuottajia.

ESINE08, the newest venue of Design Migration presents selected works of young designers. The Design Forum Cellar is taken over by a variety of fresh designs, from furniture and textiles to lighting fixtures and tabletop items.

Design Migration wants to thank all visitors of the ESINE08 exhibition in Salone Satellite in Milano. The exhibition was a success, as the displayed products as well as our designers received alot of attention and interest amongst producers, retailers and the international press. The next destination of the exhibition in Design Forum Finland in Helsinki, where it will be launched to the Finnish audience during the Design Week in September 2008.
Design Migration kiittää kaikkia vieraita, jotka kävivät tutustumassa ESINE08-näyttelyyn Salone Satellite-tapahtumassa Milanossa. Näyttely oli menestys: esillä olevat tuotteet ja niiden suunnittelija herättivät suurta kiinnostusta tuottajien, jälleenmyyjien ja kansainvälisen lehdistön keskuudessa. ESINE08-näyttelyn seuraava etappi on Design Forum Finland Helsingissä, jossa esittäydymme suomalaiselle yleisölle syyskuussa 2008 Design Weekin aikana.

Nov-07 / MILAN HERE WE COME!
The new production of Design Migration, called ESINE 08, was chosen to be part of the Salone Satellite show in Milan during Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April 2008. SaloneSatellite is a launch pad for the up-coming generation of designers.
Design Migration will be presenting new works of 14 designers; Liina Blom, Jenni Byholm, Camilla Groth, Susanna Hoikkala, Mari Isopahkala, Renata Jakowleff, Camilla Kropp, Laura Pokela, Mirjami Rissanen, Sami Ruotsalainen, Tanja Sipilä, Viktoria Pettersson and Enni Äijälä.
